Web Design

How do we translate a collaborative visual branding into an intuitive and accessible digital invitation?

This responsive web and mobile experience was designed for Synergy, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa BFA Graphic Design graduation showcase.

Built for actual exhibition visitors, the site serves as a digital invitation that conveys essential event logistics while reflecting the graduating class's collective identity.

Problem

Collaborative Integration: As my first major collaboration with peers, I had to build a web experience based on an established brand concept. The challenge was to faithfully adapt this collective identity into a digital environment without losing its original intent.

Logistical Clarity: Since this was a live, published website used by real exhibition attendees, delivering key details, such as time, location, and the artist lineup, was critical. I needed to ensure these logistical facts were immediately accessible while maintaining a strong visual connection to the main graphics.

Solution

Harmonized Visual Flow: I developed a refined layout and typographic system that extended the core exhibition graphics into the digital space. This ensured the website felt like a natural, cohesive extension of the physical invitation.

Information-Driven Interface: I optimized the user flow across web and mobile breakpoints to prioritize immediate visitor needs. By focusing on a clean information hierarchy, I presented essential event details in an approachable and highly readable digital format.
